Clearing the house after her mother has died, a daughter finds some strange treasures packed away: letters, some nylons, a ball of chewing gum? She's uncovered a secret of her mother's past - she was a Cadbury Angel. As she reads the letters, ‘The Daughter’ becomes aware of her mother Margaret’s presence in the room but it is not the presence of a frail and elderly lady, it is the presence of a young, beautiful and vibrant woman. Margaret is joined by her Cadbury chums and together they tell The Daughter about the time they worked for Cadbury’s packing emergency rations and smuggling letters inside rations tins that were dispatched to the troops. The story is inspired by actual events which, together with songs from the era, tell the story of friendships that lasted a lifetime and of the enduring bond between a mother and daughter.
